Ann Marie Bertles, MD
Dr. Ann Bertles was born in upstate NY, but moved to central Florida where she was raised. She graduated magna cum laude from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Business. Dr. Bertles attended medical school at The University of South Florida in Tampa where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and awarded the James M. Ingram Award from The Florida Obstetric and Gynecologic Society. Her residency training was completed at University of Texas at Houston at Memorial Hermann Medical Center. She has received honors from both the Society for Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Additionally, she presented abstracts at the annual Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine meeting in 2009 relating to fetal outcome prediction and parental wishes during extreme prematurity.
Dr. Bertles enjoys minimally invasive surgery and is not only certified on the da Vinci Robotic surgical system, but trains other physicians as well. She is interested in pregnancy, infertility, and adolescent medicine. She stresses the importance of patient education and welcomes patient questions. She feels it is a true honor to care for and share in her patients’ lives.
Dr. Bertles is licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is conversant in Spanish. In her free time, Dr. Bertles enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking, and staying active.
Amanda Smith, PA-C
Amanda was born and raised in Katy, Texas and graduated from Taylor High School. She went on to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Sports Science at the University of Georgia, where she was a member of the Georgia Gymdogs gymnastics team. After graduation, she returned to Houston to pursue her Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies at Baylor College of Medicine. Amanda spent the first 15 years of her career in primary care and is excited to join Progressive Women’s Care and Dr. Bertles as she brings her primary care knowledge to women’s health. She is a busy wife and mom of 2 kids and in her very little free time, Canyon Lake is her “happy place.”
